Count durood on your computer

A small program for Windows that counts your clicks as durood and adds them to the same daily total as the app on your phone. It works while you go about your day.

For Windows 10 and 11

One file, and nothing to install beforehand. Download it, open it, and it sits quietly beside your clock.

Download for Windows

72 MB, 64 bit. Free, with no advertising.

Check the file is genuine

Run this in PowerShell after downloading, and the result should match exactly:

Get-FileHash .\BarakatCounter.exe

9c8206c839f6ae3f4156e029fd12fdc0138a0769016d576168298c12766c919f

What it reads, and what it leaves alone

It reads mouse button presses and nothing else. Your cursor position, what you type, the windows you have open and the programs you run are all left untouched, and none of them is ever sent anywhere.

What reaches your account is a number, with the day it belongs to. The counter is built on Windows Raw Input rather than a keyboard style hook, which is the mechanism a keylogger would need, so that ability is absent from the program rather than merely unused.

  • Your clicks are counted on your own PC and sent in batches, never one by one.
  • Turn off Send automatically and nothing leaves your computer until you choose Send now.
  • Clicks that were not recitation can be taken back, from the same menu.
  • Closing the program stops it counting. Removing it removes everything it kept.

Setting it up

  1. 1

    Download it

Your browser may say the file is uncommon or not commonly downloaded. Choose Keep, or Keep anyway. Browsers say this about any program that few people have downloaded yet, and this one is new.

  2. 2

    Open it

Windows will then say "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway. That warning appears for every program whose author has not bought a certificate, which costs hundreds of pounds a year.

  3. 3

    Find it beside your clock

The Barakat icon appears in the tray at the bottom right of your screen. Click the small arrow there if Windows has tucked it away.

  4. 4

Right click it and choose Pair this computer

It shows an 8 character code. Leave that window open.

  5. 5

On your phone, open Settings, then Connect desktop counter

Type the code and tap Pair. That is the whole setup, and it is done once.

If something goes wrong

My browser called the file suspicious
Browsers warn about any program that few people have downloaded so far, which is a measure of how well known a file is rather than of what is inside it. Choose Keep, and check the file against the number above if you would like to be sure.
Windows blocked it
Click More info on that warning, then Run anyway. The warning is about the program having no paid certificate, rather than about anything found in it.
The code says it has expired
Codes last a short while on purpose. Choose Pair this computer again for a fresh one.
Clicking counts nothing
Right click the icon, open Settings, and check that the mouse button you actually use is ticked. Left click is on to begin with.
The count on the phone is behind
Choose Send now from the menu, then open the app. Counts made while you were offline go out as soon as the connection returns.

Every click counted here joins the same total as the taps you make in the app, so a daily target can be finished from either.
