Privacy Policy

Barakat us Salat is a free app for reading and reciting Durood & Salawat. We built it to respect your privacy: there are no ads, no tracking, no analytics, and no sign-up. This policy explains the little data the app does use and why.

In short: We don't ask for your name, email, or any account. We don't run ads or trackers. We use an approximate, city-level location (worked out from your internet connection, never GPS) only to show the correct Islamic date, and your settings and counts stay on your own device.

Information the app uses

Anonymous app session. When you open the app it creates a random, anonymous ID so it can load the Durood library. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any personal identity.
Approximate location (from your IP address). To roll the Islamic (Hijri) date over at your local sunset, the app estimates your city-level location using your internet connection. Your IP address is sent to a location service to return a coarse latitude/longitude. We do NOT use GPS and do NOT store your precise location.
On-device settings and progress. Your preferences (text size, calendar setting, audio and share-card options) and your Tasbih counts, favourites, and bookmarks are saved only on your device. They are not uploaded to us.

What we do not collect

No name, email, password, or account.
No advertising identifiers, no ad networks.
No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
No contacts, photos, microphone, or precise GPS location.

How the information is used

To deliver the Durood text, audio, and virtues you request.
To display the correct Islamic date for your region.
To remember your settings and progress on your device.

Third-party services

The app connects to a small number of services purely to function:

Supabase — hosts the Durood content and audio the app loads, and provides the anonymous session. See https://supabase.com/privacy.
ipwho.is / ipapi.co — receive your IP address to return a city-level location for the Islamic date. See https://ipwho.is and https://ipapi.co/privacy/.

Sharing & selling of data

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising or marketing. Information is only handled by the services above, and only to make the app work.

Data retention

Settings and progress remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. The anonymous session is transient. IP-based location lookups are momentary and are used only to compute the date.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Security

Connections to our services use encryption (HTTPS). Because we don't collect personal accounts, there is very little data about you to protect.

Your choices

You can clear the app's on-device data at any time from your phone's app settings, or by uninstalling the app. Going offline disables the location lookup; the app falls back to your device's time zone for the date.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
